Joseph Coombs Named GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week

BAY CITY, Mich.—Lake Erie College junior defender Joseph Coombs (Knutsford, England/Holmes Chapel Sixth Form) was named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Defender of the Week for his play in a pair of wins last week for the Storm.

On Friday (Oct. 17), Coombs helped lift the Storm to a 2-0 win over then second-ranked Saginaw Valley State University.  Coombs played well on the Storm backline, limiting the Cardinals' chances throughout the contest.  On Sunday (Oct. 19), Coombs helped lead the Storm to their fourth straight win as they defeated Northwood University 1-0.  Once again, Coombs limited the Timberwolves' attack with solid play.

On the season, Coombs has started 13 games for the Storm on defense and had the game-winning goal against the University of Findlay on Oct. 12.
