PAINESVILLE, Ohio- The Lake Erie College men's soccer team will conclude the home portion of the 2017 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC) schedule with two conference games at Jack Britt Memorial Stadium this week.
The Storm will host the Ohio Dominican University Panthers on Thursday (Oct. 12) afternoon at 12:00 PM. The Storm will conclude the weekend with Senior Day on Saturday (Oct. 14) against the University of Findlay Oilers at 3:00 PM.
"As we conclude our home schedule for conference, it will be important to end on a high note," said Storm head coach Louie Rolko. "We have been making strides all year, and it is time for us to put it all together. We need to focus on our defensive effort for a full 90 minutes and make sure we are not giving Ohio Dominican or Findlay any free lunches. We are a much different team today than we were a month ago, and it's time to show what we are made of.
Storm Report: The Storm returns to the pitch with a 4-8 overall record and 3-7 in Great Midwest games this season. Lake Erie fell in the closing seconds of overtime in a 4-3 loss at Trevecca Nazarene last Saturday (Oct. 7). Ezekiel Ebenezer (Baltimore, Md. / Long Reach) and Javier Borreguero (Nigran, Spain / Los Sauces School) each lead the Storm with five goals.
Opposition Position: Ohio Dominican comes to Painesville with a 4-8 record (3-7 in the G-MAC) after the Panthers defeated Walsh 2-0 the last time out. Jonathan Barnes and Ryan Kasprzak each have five goals each for ODU. Findlay is 9-2 overall and 8-2 in Great Midwest matches following a 3-1 win over Malone. The Oilers will face Tiffin before coming to Painesville this weekend. Josh Burton is the Oilers' leading scorer with seven goals.
Storm Forecast: The Storm will conclude Great Midwest play with road games at Cedarville and Ohio Valley next week.
