GENEVA, OHIO -- Sophomore Eric Klucar (Medina, Ohio/Highland) provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships and classmate Colleen Bednar (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) was part of two school records to highlight the Lake Erie College track and field teams' performance at the LEC/GaREAT Collegiate Open Saturday (Jan. 29) at the GaREAT Complex in Geneva.
Klucar cleared 16 feet at 4.88 meters in the pole vault. The provisional mark is 4.80 meters. It was his personal best indoors and set a school record. His previous best was 14' 9" in the season opener at West Virginia.

Classmate Cody Lancaster (Eastlake, Ohio/Eastlake North) also had a big night, shattering the school record in the 3,000-meter run with a timeof 8:47.13, well ahead of the previous mark of 9:10.53.
On the women's side, Bednar jumped 17' 4", to break the school record by nearly a foot and place first overall. Her previous best of 16' 4 1/4" came back in December at the Kent State University Golden Flash Gala. She then teamed with junior Allison Wright (Columbus, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson), classmate Samantha Smith (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) and freshman Shanita Fluker (Flint, Mich./Southwest) to set a school record in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:04.17.
The men's 4x400 relay team missed provisional qualifying by less than half a second, running at 3:18.97, which was good enough for second place at the meet, just .01 seconds behind the University of Detroit Mercy.
The Storm is back on the track next weekend for a pair of meets at the University of Findlay, beginning with the Findlay Open Friday night, Feb. 4.
