ASHLAND, OHIO -- The Lake Erie College track and field teams will vie for conference titles May 1-3 at the 2013 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships hosted by Ashland University at the Dwight Schar Athletic Complex.
The Storm men placed sixth at the GLIAC Indoor Championships in February, sending a pair of individuals to the NCAA Championships and finishing tied for 15th at the national meet. The LEC women were 10th during the indoor conference championships.
Defending national champion and junior All-American Jamil Dudley (Massillon, Ohio/Massillon) is the favorite to caputre the high jump title while sophomore All-American Joe Postwaite (Rochester, N.Y./Gates Chili) is the top seed in the triple jump, an event he has won at each of the last two conference meets.
Others expected to contend for all-conference honors and indidivual championships include redshirt junior All-American Ethan Snyder (Salesville, Ohio/Bucekye Trail) in the 110-meter and 400-meter hurdles and freshman sprinter Keith Hemphill (Warrensville Heighs, Ohio/Cleveland Central Catholic) in the 400-meters.
On the women's side, sophomors Ariana Jorgensen (Kleinburg, Ont./Emily Carr Secondary) and Destiny Prusky (Newton Falls, Ohio/Newton Falls) should contend in the hurdle and high jump events, respectively, while freshman sprinter Alicia Arnold (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain) could make an impact. Senior Colleen Bednar (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) is back as an all-conference performer in the long jump.
