Storm Finishes Strong at Akron Pole Vault Convention

AKRON, Ohio— The Lake Erie College track and field team competed at the Akron Pole Vault Convention Friday (Jan. 9).

Destiny Pruksy (Newton Falls, Ohio/Newton Falls) had the top finish for the Storm women, taking second in the high jump at a height of 1.70 meters (5-7). 

Nadia Lee (Tucker, Ga./Tucker) finished fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 11.6 meters (38-75).  She also took seventh in the long jump at 5.33 meters (17-6).  Danielle Corbin (Atlanta, Ga.) took fifth in the long jump with a distance of 5.40 meters (17-8.75).

Ariana Jorgensen (Kleinburg, Ont./Emily Carr Secondary) finished fifth in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.03 seconds. 

Kaitlyn Menges (New Philadelphia, Ohio/New Philadelphia) took seventh in the shot put with a throw of 12.3 meters (41-0.25).  She also took eighth in the weight throw with a distance of 15.11 meters (49-7).  Hannah Brehm-Gutting placed eighth in the shot put with a throw of 12.13 meters (39-9.75).

Joe Postwaite (Rochester, N.Y./Gates-Chili) had the top finish for the Storm men, winning the high jump at a height of 2.00 meters (6-6.75).  Matthew Mrosko (Wickliffe, Ohio/Wickliffe) took second in the jump at a height of 1.95 meters (6-4.75).

Vincent Horning (Stow, Ohio/Stow) took sixth in the one mile run with a time of 4:25.03.  Kurtis Taylor (Holland, Ohio/Springfield) took seventh in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.04 seconds.  Keith Hemphill (Warrensville Heights, Ohio/Cleveland Central Catholic) took eighth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.4 seconds.

Abdoulaye Ball, Jordan Sensabaugh, Andre Husain Jr. (Cleveland, Ohio/Holy Name) and Hemphill took third in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:22.60.

Douglas Moorer (Copley, Ohio/Copley) placed seventh in the shot put with a toss of 13.93 meters (45-8.5).  Sean Stone (Newton Falls, Ohio/Southeast) took eighth in the weight throw with a distance of 14.64 meters (48-0.5).

The Storm is back in action Jan. 24 at the SPIRE Northcoast Open.
