GENEVA, Ohio—The Lake Erie College track and field team found success at the SPIRE Institute North Coast Indoor Open Saturday (Jan. 24) hosted by the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
Nadia Lee (Tucker, Ga./Tucker) led the Storm with a pair of first-place finishes. She leaped 5.41 meters to win the long jump and 11.61 meters to win the triple jump. Danielle Corbin (Atlanta, Ga.) placed second in the long jump with a distance of 5.39 meters. Haley Menix took sixth in the triple jump with a leap of 9.13 meters. Destiny Prusky (Newton Falls, Ohio/Newton Falls) finished second in the high jump, clearing 1.65 meters.
Kaitlyn Menges (New Philadelphia, Ohio/New Philadelphia) placed fourth in the shot put with a toss of 12.65 meters. In the weight throw, Menges took seventh with a heave of 14.83 meters.
Ariana Jorgensen (Kleinburg, Ont./Emily Carr Secondary) took sixth in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.92 seconds. The Storm's 4x400 meter relay team of Ashley Pryce (Stow, Ohio/Stow Munroe Falls), Sara Moore (Amherst, Ohio/Amherst), Hailey Vanhoy and Gina Henley took seventh, clocking in at 4:17.03.
Joe Postwaite (Rochester, N.Y./Gates-Chili) had the top finish for the Storm men, winning the triple jump with a jump of 14.64 meters. Christopher Vogel (Kirchberg, Germany/Sportgymnasium Chemnitz) took third in the triple jump with a jump of 13.63 meters. Matthew Mrosko (Wickliffe, Ohio/Wickliffe) took fifth in the high jump, clearing 1.85 meters.
Sean Stone (Newton Falls, Ohio/Southeast) took seventh in the weight throw with a toss of 16.90 meters.
Andre Husain Jr. (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Holy Name) took second in the 60 meter dash, clocking in at 7.02 seconds. In the 200 meter dash, Husain took third with a time of 22.55 seconds. Jordan Sensabaugh took sixth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 50.33 seconds. Vincent Horning (Stow, Ohio/Stow) took sixth in the 3000 meter run with a time of 8:44.03.
The Storm is back in action at SPIRE next weekend when they compete at the SPIRE Midwest Open.
