2016 GLIAC OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS
May 4-6 @ Ferris State University
The Lake Erie College Track and Field team competes at the 2016 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Outdoor Championships May 4-6 at Ferris State University.
"The GLIAC, as usual, is ranked as the top conference in D2 on the men's side," said Storm Head Coach Grant Lofdahl. "It is ranked second on the women's side behind the MIAA, be we'll see how that shakes out after this weekend. There are currently five GLIAC athletes ranked #1 in the country in their events. GVSU is ranked second on both sides, and the Hillsdale women are ranked third and the Tiffin men fourth nationally. GVSU is the favorite on both sides. I believe they've won 15 or 16 in a row on the women's side, and either GVSU or Ashland has won on the men's side for the past 20 years."
"We had a very nice tune-up meet last weekend at Ashland, and I'm optimistic that we'll compete very well at GLIACs this week," continued Lofdahl. "With a couple of exceptions, most of our team is fairly healthy, and we've been gearing up for this meet for a while. Obviously cross country regionals, the indoor GLIAC meet, and national meets are very important, but the GLIAC Outdoor Championship is sort of the culmination of the entire process and the entire year. Our team is well-prepared, and I think they'll rise to the challenge that this extremely competitive conference presents."
Nadia Lee is seeded first in triple jump and is also competing in long jump, the 4x100, and 4x400 relays. She was GLIAC Indoor runner-up in triple this year.
