Storm Ready to Run at Alumni Open (Preview)

PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie College track and field team will be in action this weekend as they travel to compete in the Alumni Open at Ashland University.

Storm Report:  The Storm is coming off a very successful weekend of competition at the Sparky Adams Invite.  The Storm was led by Danielle Corbin (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Walnut Grove (Ga.)) as she won the long jump and triple jump and Johanna Moeller (Bochum, Germany / Schiller-Schule Gymnasium Furjungen Und Madchen) added a win in the 100 meter hurdles.  Shavon Thompson (St. Andrew, Jamaica / Ardenne) took first in the men's 100 meter dash and Brandon Bryan (Geneva, Ohio / Geneva) notched a win in the steeplechase.

Head Coach Grant Lofdahl said "This weekend is our final tune-up before the GLIAC Championships, so it's an important one. A few distance runners are going to the Gina Relays on Friday night at Hillsdale, which is a highly competitive meet for long distance events -- we're hoping for some NCAA provisional marks there. The Ashland Alumni meet always has good competition in the sprints, jumps, throws, and mid-distance, and they have a nice facility. We want to fine-tune some things and have everyone come out of this weekend feeling healthy and confident as we prepare for GLIACs next week".

Forecast: Lake Erie will return to the track next weekend as they compete at the GLIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Grand Valley State.
