(BRIDGEWATER, Va.) – The Lake Erie track & field team had a busy weekend with Storm student-athletes being split and sent to Bridgewater and Wooster invitationals. The Green and White performed well with multiple people placing at both locations.
At Bridgewater, Imane Snyder took the top time in the 200 meters as she finished with a time of 25.36. Luca Hartman was fourth at 26.01. Sydney Crouch finished just a hair back from that for fifth with a time of 26.04. Nyla Fuqua put four Storm thin clads in the top eighth with a time of 27.45.
Snyder was also second in the 100 meters with a time of 12.43. Hartman was right behind her to finish third with a time of 12.74. Fuqua made it a Storm trifecta with a time of 13.11 to finish fifth.
Crouch went on to win the 400 meters with a time of 59.46. The aforementioned quartet also scored second place in the 4x100 meter relay. Crouch took the opening leg and was followed by Fuqua, Hartman, and Snyder and together finished with a time of 49.30.
The Storm sent a few athletes to the Wooster Invitational as well where Lilian Putney turned in the top performance in the pole vault and set a new school record in the process. She finished fourth with a height of 3.29 meters with the first place mark coming at 3.39 meters. Lauren Pagan also placed in the discus. Her best throw registered at 34.15 meters, good for seventh place. The previous record was 3.1 meters set by Heather Combs.
On the men's side, Montrell DeVaughn and Joseph Elson Jr. had an excellent day as they finished first and second in the 400 meters. DeVaughn was first with a time of 49.12, while Elson Jr. was runner-up at 49.43. The duo also placed in the 200 as DeVaughn finished second with a time of 22.07 and was followed closely by Elson Jr. with a time of 22.35 for fifth.
In the 1,500, Brandon Bryan took home third after he clocked in at 4:18.83. He also finished fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 1:02.26.
