HILLSDALE, Mich. – The Lake Erie College women's basketball team was defeated by Hillsdale today (December 14th), 73-49. With the loss the Storm fall to 5-3 overall and 1-2 in the conference, and with the win the Chargers improve to 5-1 overall and 3-1 in conference play.
After Hillsdale jumped out to a 7-2 lead Lake Erie fought back to tie the game at 11-11 with 13:31 left in the first half. The Chargers went on an 8-0 run to make the score, 27-19. The run was stopped when sophomore guard Daija Jones (Cleveland, Ohio / St. Joseph Academy) came up with a steal and junior center Kaeding Skelton (Grand Haven, Mich. / Grand Haven) scored off an assist by Jones with 6:41 left in the first half. Lake Erie was down three at the half, 37-34.
Hillsdale started the second half on a 12-0 run that made the score 49-34 with 13:16 remaining in the game. The run was stopped when senior guard Jackie Murray (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio / St. Vincent-St. Mary) hit a pair of foul shots. The Chargers ended the game on an 11-0 run which made the final score, 73-49.
Senior forward Chloe Irish (LaGrange, Ohio / Keystone) led the way for the Storm with 12 points and was 2-2 from three point range. Junior guard Sami Narducci (North Royalton, Ohio / North Royalton) added eight points and led the team in assists with three. Skelton led the team in rebounds with seven and added five points.
Lake Erie College will be back in action when they travel to on Saginaw Valley St. on Tuesday (December 16th) at 6 P.M.
