COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Lake Erie College women's basketball team was defeated today by Ohio Dominican, 84-63.
The Panthers opened the game on an 11-0 run, and the run was ended when Sami Narducci (North Royalton, Ohio / North Royalton) made a layup to make the score 11-2, in favor of the Panthers. The Panthers continued their strong play and entered the second quarter on top of the Storm.
The second quarter started as a defensive battle in which the Storm held the Panthers to five points in the first five minutes of the second quarter. Later in the quarter the Storm went on a 5-0 run, the run was highlighted by a pair of Christine Dawson (Mentor, Ohio / Mentor) foul shots. The Storm outscored the Panthers in the second quarter, but entered the half behind the Panthers. The Storm was led by Dawson as she had four points and four rebounds in the half.
Early in the third quarter the Storm went on a 10-2 run, in which both Narducci and Kayla Gabor (Mentor, Ohio / Mentor) hit thee pointers, to cut the Panthers lead to 50-34. The run was ended by the media timeout in the third quarter. The Storm entered the fourth quarter trailing the Panthers, 65-45.
The Storm battled but was unable to sustain any momentum in the fourth quarter. The Panthers held on to defeat the Storm 84-63.
The Storm was led by Gabor as she had 20 points, and three steals. Dawson added 10 points, seven rebounds, and three steals. Narducci pitched in with six points and a team high four assists.
Lake Erie will be back in action Thursday (February 25th) as they wrap up their season on the road against Ashland.
