PAINESVILLE, Ohio- The Lake Erie College women's basketball team will look to rebound following two losses last week within the GLIAC South. The Storm will host Hillsdale College on Thursday (Jan. 26).
Storm Report: Lake Erie is currently 7-11 overall and 5-7 in the GLIAC. The Storm fell to #1 Ashland 86-79 on Thursday (Jan. 19) and then was defeated at Findlay 84-56 on Saturday (Jan. 21). Kayla Gabor (Mentor, Ohio / Mentor) led the Storm with 25 points in the Ashland game. Brianna Shagovac (Lorain, Ohio / Amherst Steele) tied a career-high with 14 points against Findlay.
"Both Hillsdale and Ohio Dominican offer similar challenges this week," said Storm head coach Bob Booher. "Both have multiple scorers who can hurt you and both rebound very well. Defensively they make you work for good shots which when considering their style of play explains why both have winning records."
Opposition Position: Hillsdale comes to Painesville with an 11-8 overall record and a 5-7 GLIAC record. The Chargers defeated Tiffin 69-51 in their last game. Hillsdale is led by Allie Dewire, who averages 13.3 points per game.
Series History: The Storm and the Chargers have met nine times since 2009. The Chargers have a 6-3 record against the Storm. In last year's meeting, the Storm fell 63-53 at home. Gabor led the Storm with 17 points and nine rebounds.
