PAINESVILLE, Ohio- The Lake Erie College women's basketball team will open the month of February with two home games this week. The Storm will host the Tiffin Dragons on Thursday (Feb. 2) and the Walsh Cavaliers on Saturday (Feb. 4).
"Tiffin is always a challenge because they combine a strong post presence with good three point shooting," said Storm head coach Bob Booher. "Walsh has a very talented athletic group that is always on the attack and in every game regardless of the opponent."
Storm Report: Lake Erie finished January with a 7-13 overall record and a 5-9 GLIAC mark. The Storm fell to Ohio Dominican on Monday (Jan. 30) 83-50. Kayla Gabor (Mentor, Ohio / Mentor) led the Storm with ten points and six rebounds. Gabor is the leading scorer for the Storm and for the GLIAC as she averages 19.5 points per game.
Opposition Position: Tiffin comes to Painesville with a 5-14 record, including 3-11 in the GLIAC. The Dragons fell to the #1 Ashland Eagles 119-74 on Monday. The Dragons' leading scorer and rebounder is Bre Nauman, who has an average of 10.5 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. Walsh begins the month of February with a 10-11 overall mark and a 6-8 GLIAC record. Walsh fell to Findlay 76-73 on Monday. The Cavaliers are led by Brooklyn Wooten, who leads with an average of 12.7 points per game.
Series History: Lake Erie defeated both Tiffin and Walsh in the first meetings last month. The Storm defeated the Dragons on the road 70-64 after Gabor scored 22 points. The Storm traveled to Walsh and defeated the Cavaliers 70-63 behind Gabor's 28 points.
Storm Forecast: The Storm will travel to #1 Ashland for a GLIAC South matchup on February 9th.
