PAINESVILLE, OHIO – Lake Erie College women's lacrosse rising seniors Meredith Howe (Fayetteville, N.Y./Jamesville Dewitt), Julia Kudla (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) and Allison Trombetti (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy) were among 82 Division II student-athletes nationally included in the 2012 Academic Honor Roll by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association.
The Storm had four players listed, including former student-athlete Aerielle Smith.
The student-athletes are nominated by their schools for inclusion on the Honor Roll and must have achieved junior status academically. A total of 29 institutions were represented on the DII list.
Howe, an accounting major with a minor in French Studies, scored 38 goals last season – the second most on the team – and finished with 42 points. Kudla, who majors in marketing and sport management, led the Storm with 42 goals, 29 assists and 71 total points. Trombetti, who scored five goals and added a pair of assists, also majors in accounting.
The Storm tied their single-season school record with seven wins in 2012 under first-year head coach Jillian Howley and earned IWLCA Academic Squad status for the third straight year. In 2013, Lake Erie will compete in the inaugural season of competition in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).
