STORM SET FOR AWAY AND HOME WEEKEND SLATE: The Lake Erie College women's lacrosse team is set for an away-and-home weekend Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) slate, traveling to Urbana University Friday (April 11) before hosting Alderson-Broaddus University Sunday (April 13).
LAST TIME OUT: The Storm finished play last week with a 2-1 record. They defeated Ursuline College 18-9 in their GLIAC season opener on Wednesday (April 2). On Friday (April 4), the Storm completed a second-half comeback against West Virginia Wesleyan College to pick up a 12-10 victory in their final nonconference game of the season. The Storm fell to Grand Valley State University Sunday (April 6) 19-8 in a GLIAC contest.
OPPOSITION POSITION: The Urbana Blue Knights enter Friday's contest with a 1-4 record. Their victory came against Alderson-Broaddus, 9-7, on April 10. Hannah Walters leads Urbana with 10 goals this season while Paige Waqa has made 70 saves in net. The Battlers travel to Grand Valley State University on Friday (April 11) with a 1-7 record before traveling to Painesville Sunday. Their win came against Chowan University, 12-11, on March 2. Tia Kline leads Alderson-Broaddus with eight points on six goals, two assists while Cynthia Rice has netted seven goals. In net, Paxton Boyer has made 79 saves.
SERIES HISTORY: The Storm is 3-0 all-time against Urbana University. Last season, the Storm defeated the Blue Knights 19-2 in Painesville. Ashriel West led the Storm with seven points on two goals, five assists in the game. Lake Erie bested Alderson-Broaddus in their lone meeting. Hana Abu-Kwiek's five goals led the Storm to a 21-2 victory last season against the Battlers.
STORM REPORT: Hana Abu-Kwiek leads the Storm with 36 points, 30 goals, 28 groundballs and 42 draw controls. Ashriel West has tallied 29 points on 21 goals and a team-high eight assists. Samantha Gryba is third on the team with 14 goals. Mallory Quiggle is second on the team with seven assists. Emma Miller has scored 11 in her first season. Katie Holden is second on the team with 26 groundballs while making 85 saves.
