PAINESVILLE, Ohio—The Lake Erie College women's lacrosse team kicked off the final leg of the 2016 regular season in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) contest Friday (April 22).
The Storm fell to the Dragons 11-3.
After a 11 minute defensive battle to start the game, the Dragons got on the board. After the added two more, the Storm cut the lead to two with seven minutes to play in the half. On a give-and-go play, Anna Spin (Auburn, N.Y./Aurburn) found Hana Abu-Kwiek (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy Orange) for the goal. In the final three minutes of the half, the Dragons added two more to take a 5-1 lead into the half.
The Dragons' momentum carried over to the second half where they increased their lead to 10-1. Kaylan Bohn (Louisville, Ky./Eastern) broke up the Tifin run with an unassisted goal with just over 12 minutes to play.
The defenses took over for the next seven minutes until Anastasia Crawford (Corning, N.Y./Painted Post East) scored the Storm's third goal with under five minutes to play. However, the Dragons added one more late to seal the win.
Crawford, Bohn and Abu-Kwiek had the goals for the Storm. Anna Spin added an assist.
Emma Miller (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) caused two turnovers and had a team-high three groundballs. Crawford also had two caused turnovers.
The Storm is back in action Sunday (April 24) against the University of Findlay on Senior Day.
