ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Lake Erie College women's lacrosse team dropped a pair of games to 11th ranked Grand Valley St.
In game one the Lakers jumped out to an early lead as they scored the first three goals of the game before the Storm responded. The Storm got on the board when Anna Spin (Auburn, N.Y. / Auburn) found the back of the net, to make the score, 3-1. After about five minutes of scoreless action the Lakers added two goals to take a 5-1 advantage. The Storm quickly answered the Lakers goal when Kayla Bohn (Louisville, Ky. / Eastern) scored off of an assist by A. Spin, with just over 11 minutes remaining in the half. The Storm scored a second straight goal when Cecilia Spin (Auburn, N.Y. / Auburn) scored an unassisted goal to cut the Lakers lead to 5-3. The Lakers scored two goals before the half and lead 7-3 at the intermission.
The Lakers scored nine goals in the second half to pull away from the Storm. The lone goal for the Storm came from A. Spin off of a free position shot. The Lakers won the game 16-4.
In game two, the Lakers jumped out to an early lead, and entered the half with a 12-0 advantage.
The Storm opened the scoring in the second half when C. Spin found the back of the net with an unassisted goal. The Lakers responded with four consecutive goals, before the Storm scored again. Mallory Quiggle (Lewis Center, Ohio / Olentangy) gave the Storm their second goal, as she scored an unassisted goal. The Lakers added three goals late in the game and won, 19-2.
Lake Erie will return to the field Tuesday (May 2nd) as they will be on the road to compete in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) playoffs.
