(PAINESVILLE, Ohio) - Senior Day was a success for Lake Erie as it defeated local rival Ursuline 22-3 on Saturday afternoon. The Storm (7-6, 4-1) never trailed against the Arrows (3-10, 1-4) as they improved to 8-0 all-time against the visitors.
True to form, it was the seniors that led the way for the Green and White. Michelle Burke helped sparked the offense with an early assist on a Chloe Nottingham goal that made the score 2-0 just over two minutes into the game. She later scored back-to-back goals 13 seconds apart late in the first half.
Assisting the first of those goals was Anna Spin who played her final home regular season home game with four goals and four assists for eight points. The second of her goals came with 17:04 left in the first and sparked a 12-0 run that put the game out of reach.
Keeping the opposition off the scoreboard was Harmony Moore who picked up the win after she made five saves. She added two ground balls as well to help the Storm lead that category 15-10 against the Arrows.
Jacquelynn Ho also got on the scoreboard for the second time this season with a goal in the second half.
Brigid Lempko (one goal and six assists), Meagan Maxwell (four goals and an assist), Nottingham (four goals), and Riley Heffron (three goals and an assist) also stood out for the Storm attack. Lempko also recorded three ground balls to lead the defense.
Lake Erie will return to action this Tuesday in a rescheduled game at Slippery Rock. Opening draw is set for 4 p.m.
