INVITE INFO (Brackets and Results)
PAINESVILLE, Ohio- The Lake Erie College wrestling team is set to compete at the Mount Union Invite this Saturday (Nov. 12).
The Storm will be led by senior Evan Rosborough, and juniors Tyler Hughes, Nick Vandermeer, and Nick Boggs. Hughes, Vandermeer, and Boggs are all ranked in the top 10 nationally at their weight class while Rosborough is ranked in the top four regionally.
Although it will be a step down form a grueling Eastern Michigan Open which had mostly Big Ten competition, The MU invite boasts a very strong field. "We will get the chance to wrestle five other division II schools and two very good division III squads," said Head Coach Kevin Hoogenboom.
Mercyhurst, Seton Hill, and Gannon are ranked 4th, 5th and 6threspectively in the east region. The Storm was tabbed as the 2nd best team in Midwest Region to start the season. Other Division II teams include Ohio Valley and newly created program Bellarmine.
"Although the field is smaller there will still be over 180 wrestlers competing. One of the reasons we like this tournament is the option to enter multiple guys per weight class and get several wrestlers valuable experience" said Hoogenboom.
Hoogenboom added "This is an exciting time for our program. We have several wrestlers who are well known nationally, but we will also have many wrestlers making their varsity debut in a storm singlet."
"We have several guys who have been putting in the work behind the scenes and now they get their opportunity to compete."
