PAINESVILLE, OHIO -- Despite 10 kills from freshman hitter Molly Richardson (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Bishop Dwenger) the Lake Erie College volleyball team opened its final weekend on a down note with a 3-1 loss at Tiffin University Friday night (Nov. 5).
Sophomore Mary Walter (Solon, Ohio/Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) and junior Michelle Naab (North Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton) each had eight kills for the Storm (4-25, 1-17 GLIAC) which dropped its sixth straight. Junior Krista O'Connor (North Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton) had 19 digs.
The Dragons (14-14, 1-8 GLIAC) took the first set 25-9 then went up 2-0 with a 25-19 victory in set two. Lake Erie battled back to win set three, 25-21, but Tiffin closed the match out with a 5-2 run to take set four 25-21.
Danielle McQuade had a match-high 15 kills to lead the Dragons while Brittany Teaford had nine for Tiffin, which won its third straight.
Lake Erie closes the season on Saturday evening, Nov. 6, at Ohio Dominican University. The match between the two first-year Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference members is set for 5 p.m.
