PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie College volleyball team was defeated today (November 7th) by the University of Findlay, 3-0. With the loss the Storm falls to 3-24 and 0-17 in the conference, and with the win the Oilers improve to 21-6 overall and 14-3 in conference play.
The Storm was led by freshman hitter Asya Hobbs (Lynwood, Ill. / Bishop Noll), freshman hitter Bethany Fisher (Orrville, Ohio / Dalton), and freshman hitter Madison Russell (Westerville, Ohio / Westerville South), each had five kills in the match. The Storm totaled 24 kills in the game and the Oilers had 35, the high for the match was 10 kills by Nickyla Garverick of Findlay.
Defensively, Hobbs and junior Kathryn Ferry (Lima, Ohio / Lima Central Catholic) each tallied double digit digs with 18 and 13 respectively. Lake Erie had 36 digs in the match and Findlay had 44 digs, the 18 digs by Hobbs was the high mark for the match.
The Storm will wrap up their season tomorrow (November 8th) when they host Hillsdale at 5 P.M.
