PAINESVILLE, Ohio—The Lake Erie College volleyball defeated Central State University in straight sets Tuesday night (Oct. 27).
Lake Erie won the sets 25-10, 25-10 and 25-18.
The Storm jumped out to a 10-3 lead before the Marauders called a timeout. The timeout failed to halt the Storm momentum as the won the ensuing five points en route to a 25-10 set win.
Destiny Prusky (Newton Falls, Ohio/Newton Falls) led the Storm with five kills in the set. Leondra Barrett (Chattanooga, Tenn./Ooltewah) had four kills. In all, the Storm had 16 kills in the set, hitting .355. Crystal Kedroske (Dexter, Mich./Mich.) had a team-high five digs.
The Storm momentum continued through the second set, gaining an early 9-3 lead. The offense continued to run on all cylinders as they cruised to a 25-10 set win.
Madison Russell (Westervile, Ohio/Westerville) led the Storm with seven kills in the second set. The team totaled 15 kills in the frame, with a hitting percentage of .500. Russell had a set-high three digs.
The Marauders and the Storm traded points early on before the Storm pulled ahead, 7-4. After a timeout, Central State tied the game at 12. However, the Storm regained their footing, winning the set 25-18, to close out the match.
Russell and Barrett led the way for the Storm with 12 kills and 10 kills respectively in the match. Kedroske led the defense with 13 digs which was a game high.
The Storm is back in action at home Friday (Oct. 30), playing host to Malone University in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) action.
