HILLSDALE, Mich. – The Lake Erie College volleyball team was defeated today by Hillsdale in straight sets. The Storm ends the season with a 9-20 record, which is the best overall record in school history for the volleyball team since moving to Division-II.
The Storm jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first set behind Leondra Barrett (Chattanooga, Tn. / Ooltewah) who had a kill and a block. The Chargers rallied, and took the first set, (25-20). Sidney Fletcher (Saline, Mich. / Saline) led the Storm in the first set with nine digs.
The Chargers took an early lead in the second set, and were able to hold off the comeback efforts of the Storm, to win the second set (25-18).
The third set saw the Chargers take a 14-8 advantage, which forced a Storm timeout. The Chargers maintained their lead and won the final frame, (25-14).
The Storm was led by Madison Russell (Westerville, Ohio / Westerville South) on offense with eight kills. Defensively, Fletcher led the way with 18 digs for the Storm. In addition to Fletcher, Crystal Kedroske (Dexter, Mich. / Dexter) and Alexis Thomas (Cincinnati, Ohio / Fairfield) each had 10 digs in the match.
