CLARION, Pa- The Lake Erie College volleyball concluded play at the 5th Tony Banner Memorial Tournament on Saturday (Sept. 3) with a match against Cedarville University. For the second time this weekend, the Storm battled in a five set match.
Cedarville took the match three sets to two (25-21, 24-26, 23-25, 25-17, 12-15). Lake Erie is 0-3 on the season.
Crystal Kedroske (Dexter, Mich. / Dexter) led the Storm offense in the match with 15 kills. Kedroske also added eight digs on defense. Brooke Peiffer (Lansing, Mich. / Holt) followed up her performance on Friday (Sept. 2) with 14 kills and 16 digs. Lee Lee Barrett (Chattanooga, Tn. / Ooltewah) joined Kedroske and Peiffer with double-digit kills as she finished with ten.
On the defensive end, Sidney Fletcher (Saline, Mich. / Saline) led the Storm with 20 digs. Alexis Thomas (Cincinnati, Ohio / Fairfield) and Courtney Stedman (Mount Prospect, Ill. / Hersey) had good defensive games with 14 and 13 kills, respectively.
As a team, the Storm outhit the Yellow Jackets in four of the five sets.
Peiffer was named to the All-Tournament Team after the tournament was completed. In 14 sets the weekend, Peiffer accumulated 40 kills and 49 digs for the Storm.
Lake Erie will travel to Daeman College next Friday (Sept. 9) and Sunday (Sept. 11) to participate in the Wildcat Classic. Over the weekend, the Storm will face Roberts Wesleyan, Daeman, Assumption and Saint Rose.
