Storm Signs Three in 2017 Recruiting Class

PAINESVILLE, Ohio- The Lake Erie College Volleyball team is pleased to announce the signing of three student athletes who will join the team in the fall of 2017: Courtney Rosebrook (Patrick Henry High, OH), Kenzie Previts (Magnificat High, OH), and Cassie Coker (George Ranch High, TX).

"These athletes are such great additions to the program, as they all possess the athleticism, work ethic, and discipline that the Storm Volleyball Program runs off of. Most importantly, they are all high character kids, coming from blue collar backgrounds that will allow them to seamlessly adapt to the current culture of the Lake Erie Volleyball program," says Lake Erie head coach Kevin Foeman.

Courtney Rosebrook

 Middle Hitter

Patrick Henry High School

Deshler, Ohio

Courtney, a team captain, was named Defiance Crescent-News Player of the Year, NWOAL Player of the Year, 1st Team All District, a Senior Scholarship Award winner, Team MVP, along with being invited to play in the District All-Star game and All Ohio All-Star game. She was a varsity starter all four years of her high school career, leading the team in kills (2013-2016), blocks (2015-2016), and aces (2015). She was named to the all-district and all-league teams her Sophomore and Junior years, was named to the North Coast Power League All-Tournament team in her Junior year of Club Volleyball, has made the Super Honor Roll every semester, received an academic letter all four years of her high school career, and has been a member of the National Honor Society since her Junior year. Courtney plays club volleyball for Toledo Volleyball Club, where she faces some of the top competition throughout the summer.

Coach Foeman's Take: "We are extremely excited to be adding Courtney Rosebrook to our team next year. I was immediately impressed with her court presence and her endless work ethic on the court (always covering, transitioning hard, her ability to close the block, and her desire to play in the backrow). She is an incredible athlete with an explosive arm, great vertical and a high volleyball IQ. She fits well with the type of offense we run, and will make an immediate impact on our team both on and off the court. Most importantly, she is the type of first class, high character kid that will fit right in with the team first mentality that is needed in this program."

Q&A with Courtney:

Why did you choose Lake Erie College?

I chose Lake Erie because of the amazing coaching staff and players on the team. Instantly, they made me feel like a part of the family! The direction that Coach Foeman is taking the team is very exciting, and I can't wait to be a part of the growing success.

What do you plan to study?

At Lake Erie I plan to study Biology with a Pre-Physical Therapy concentration.

What are you most excited about for next year?

I am most excited to join a group of girls that love volleyball as much as I do and have the drive and dedication to continue to grow and excel in the sport.

Cassie Coker

Middle Hitter

George Ranch High School

 Richmond, Texas

Cassie was just named to the District 23-6A First Team All-District team for her impressive senior year campaign where she totaled 143 blocks in district play which placed her 46th in the entire state of Texas. Along with her impressive senior year, Cassie was named to the All-District and Academic All-District Team her junior year, along with guiding her high school team to the State-Semifinals in an ultra-competitive volleyball state. She has also been a member of the National Honor Society since her junior year. Cassie plays club ball for Club Catalyst, an extremely competitive club program that is located in Richmond, Texas.

Coach Foeman's Take: "Cassie is another exciting player we are adding in the 2017 class. Coming from the talent rich state of Texas, she has competed against some of the top club programs in the country where she has established herself as one of the top blockers in her area. Her talent was evident the moment I saw her play, as she was not only an offensive force, but put up an incredibly disciplined block. Having played middle majority of her high school and club career, Cassie has the ability to play all three front row positions at a high level which makes her that much more valuable to our program. She possesses a really strong arm and the mindset and overall athleticism to really make an impact in our program. Cassie is another polite, hard-working, high character individual that will only enhance the culture that is being set."

Q&A with Cassie:

Why did you choose Lake Erie College?

I chose Lake Erie because the girls on the team were so friendly and welcoming when I visited and I was thoroughly impressed by their skills in volleyball as well. The volleyball program is amazing and the coaches are directly involved with the girls, helping them to learn and succeed. Also, Lake Erie is a school I feel like I can get close to and get to know different people and teachers alike without feeling like just another number in the system.

What do you plan to study?

I plan on studying Chemistry when I get to college.

What are you most excited about for next year?

I'm most excited to be a part of the team and see how successful we can be in my freshman year.

Kenzie Previts

Defensive Specialist

Magnificat High School

Cleveland, Ohio

Coach Foeman's Take: "Kenzie is one of the most athletic defensive specialists I have had the pleasure of recruiting. Her hustle and volleyball skills immediately captured my attention and I knew she was the type of player we need at Lake Erie. She plays with a fire and intensity that propels her teammates to reach greater heights. Not only does she possess the mentality that is needed to truly be a great player at the Division 2 level, but she is incredibly quick, disciplined and strong. She will fit right in with the mentality our defensive player's exhibit, and will be an important piece to the future of Lake Erie Volleyball. Kenzie has played for some of the top clubs in the Cleveland Area, which routinely produces some of the best club volleyball teams in the country. This year she will play for MVC volleyball."

Q&A with Kenzie:

Why did you choose Lake Erie College?

I chose Lake Erie because of the wonderful people involved in the volleyball program and how they carry themselves. I believe I will be pushed past my full potential on the court based on the welcoming coaches and girls that I now call my family. Another reason I chose Lake Erie was based on the size, determined to keep my focus academically, mentally, and in volleyball. The third reason was the deal breaker, being that it is close enough to home so that my dad can come watch me play. My dad has been my rock and I would not be able to take advantage of the opportunities Lake Erie is giving me without him.

What do you plan to study?

I plan to go into Speech and Language Pathology for children, entering the Special Education program here at Lake Erie.

What are you most excited about for next year?

As for my freshmen year, I am most excited about beginning my studies that will set me up for my dream job as a Speech and Language Pathologist. I am also excited about the new environment and the new people I will come across.
