PAINESVILLE, Ohio- The Lake Erie College volleyball team will continue Great Midwest play with two road games this weekend. The Storm will travel to Walsh for a match on Friday (Sept. 29) night at 7:00 PM and then will face Malone at 2:00 PM Saturday (Sept. 29) afternoon.
Storm Report: Lake Erie is 11-4 overall and 5-1 through six Great Midwest matches thus far. The Storm swept Ohio Dominican 3-0 in their last match last weekend. Lake Erie has some conference leaders in various categories. Bethany Fisher (Orrville, Ohio / Dalton) is 3rd in the G-MAC with 203 kills, an average of 3.9 kills per set. Sidney Fletcher (Saline, Mich. / Saline) is 3rd in the conference with 247 digs, or 4.75 digs per set. Lexi Lombardo (Olmsted Falls, Ohio / Olmsted Falls) leads all players with a league-best .336 hitting percentage as the Storm is 3rd overall with a .235 hitting percentage as a team.
Opposition Position: Walsh is 12-2 overall and 6-0 in conference matches this season. The Cavaliers defeated Alderson Broaddus 3-0 in their last match. Malone is 10-4 overall and 5-1 in Great Midwest contests after a 3-1 victory over Ohio Valley last weekend. The Pioneers will face Ursuline before hosting the Storm on Saturday.
Series History: Lake Erie snapped a five match losing streak to the Cavaliers with two wins last season. The Storm won the first match in five sets before sweeping Walsh in the final matchup of the 2016 season. Lake Erie and Malone have shared the court in six meetings with Malone winning every meeting so far.
Storm Forecast: Lake Erie returns home to the Osborne Center for two Great Midwest contests against Findlay and Hillsdale.
