(INDIANAPOLIS) – After two incredible five-set wins over teams tied for first place in the East Division, Lake Erie's Alexis Thomas has been named the G-MAC's Player of the Week. Thomas (Sr., 5-6, Cincinnati, Ohio/Fairfield) put together her best two-match stretch of the season to keep the Storm alive for the divisional crown en route to another 20-win season.
Overall, she totaled an eye-popping 105 assists while leading Lake Erie in 3-2 victories at Walsh on Friday and against Malone at home on Saturday. Thomas increased her roll in Saturday's win over the Pioneers with 16 digs and four kills.
This season Thomas is averaging 10.13 assists per set and leads the G-MAC in total assists with 1,064 through 29 matches.
This is the third time this season a member of the Storm has been named Player of the Week. Thomas joins Morgan Briggs and Crystal Kedroske as other Lake Erie players to be honored.
The wins clinched a playoff bid for the Storm who are just a half-game back of Malone and 1.5 games back of Walsh in the East Division standings. Lake Erie will close out the regular season with pair of home matches against Alderson Broaddus on Friday and Davis & Elkins on Saturday.
