KENOSHA, Wis. - The Lake Erie women's cross country team
competed for the first time in the Great Lakes Regional meet and
came away with some impressive finishes.
Four runners ran a better pace than the school's previous 6K record time of 27:21. Sophomore Carrie Crews (Chardon, Ohio/Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) set the pace with a time of 26:32, shattering the old mark by 49 seconds.
She was followed by three athletes who also beat the previous Lake Erie College record: Junior Rachel Nypaver (Parma Heights, Ohio/Valley Forge) ran in 26:35, freshman Leah Jones (Maple Heights, Ohio/Maple Heights) finished in 27:05 and junior Sandi Nypaver (Parma Heights, Ohio/Valley Forge) ran the course in 27:07.
Sophomore Allison Wright (Columbus, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson), freshman Sammie Smith (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) and sophomore Kyle Herron (Perry, Ohio/Perry) rounded out the field for the Storm.
The women's team finished in 19th place in the meet while Grand Valley State, Southern Indiana and Ferris State placed in the top three, respectively.
