ERIE, PA. – For the second straight race, junior Cody Lancaster (Eastlake, Ohio/Eastlake North) and freshman Nick Hall (Stow, Ohio/Stow-Munroe Falls) ran second and third overall to lead the Lake Erie College men's cross country team to a second-place finish, this time at the Penn State University-Behrend Invitational Saturday (Sept. 15).

The Storm women also had their best showing of the early season, placing fifth of 16 teams.

Lancaster covered the course in an impressive 26:06.2, less than 10 seconds off the lead, while Hall was close behind at 26:13.4.  Lancaster's time was just three seconds off his own school record and the second fastest 8,000-meter time in program history.  Hall's time was third best ever for a Storm runner.

Senior Greg Gerber (Fremont, Ohio/Clyde) had the Storm's third top-10 finish, placing ninth overall in a time of 27:05.1, just a few seconds behind his career best.

As a team, Lake Erie scored 76 points to finish second to team champion Gannon University in the 17-team field.

Junior Shanita Fluker (Flint, Mich./Southwestern) paced the ladies, finishing eighth overall with a time of 20:38.8. She was the only Lake Erie runner in the top 30, but the Storm had three runners place between 32-38, helping bolster the team score.

The Storm women finished with 161 points.  Host Penn State-Behrend took the team title.

Next up for the Storm is the annual Edinboro University Rag Relays on Saturday, Sept. 22.
