(PAINESVILLE, Ohio) - Lake Erie College men's and women's cross country head coach Giles Davis has announced the 2019 schedule. Both teams will compete in three events leading up to Great Midwest Championships in October.
Lake Erie will begin competition on Saturday, Sept. 14, in the Tiffleberg Open at Heidelburg University. The Storm then travel south to Cedarville, Ohio, to compete in the All-Ohio Championships hosted by Cedarville University on Saturday, Sept. 28.
After a week away from competition, the Storm will head to Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania on Saturday, Oct. 12 for the Bill Lennox Invitational to finish out the regular season.
"The 2019 cross country schedule provides an opportunity to compete on various courses throughout the region against strong competition from NCAA Division I and Division II programs. With our youth, the schedule will provide a wealth of racing experience heading to the conference and regional championships," said Davis.
Davis is in his third year leading the Lake Erie Track and Field and Cross Country teams. The addition of Lake Erie alum and new assistant coach Dalton Graham brings experience in distance running.
The Storm will open up postseason competition on Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championship hosted by Ursuline College in Pepper Pike, Ohio.
Postseason action continues two weeks later on Friday, Nov. 8, as Lake Erie will go to Indiana for the NCAA Division II Regional Championship, hosted by Southern Indiana University. The Storm will look to earn an invitation at the NCAA Division II Championship as the national championship event will be hosted by Cal-State University, Sacramento on Saturday, Nov. 23.
